Before the crowds arrive and the first shot is played, there’s a stage to be built. For more than 30 years, Damian Turner has been the one making it happen.
His career began with World Sports Group in Hong Kong, where he worked on Asian Tour tournaments and major international events such as the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes. He later moved into global event management, playing a key role at the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup, overseeing commercial branding across 17 stadia in three countries.
Over the years, Damian has earned a reputation for delivering complex, large-scale sporting events with precision and consistency. He was part of the London 2012 Olympic Games (LOCOG), responsible for temporary overlay across the Olympic Park, before focusing more deeply on professional golf.
During his eight years with the European Tour (now DP World Tour) in the UAE, he played a central role in establishing the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. He went on to contribute to two of golf’s most prestigious events — the Ryder Cup in Paris (2018) and Rome (2023) — and most recently served as Championship Director for the Genesis Championships in Korea in 2024 and 2025. He is currently leading the staging of the Solheim Cup, which will take place in September 2026 at Bernardus, Netherlands.
"Damian brings exactly what world-class golf events need: deep experience, total control, and the ability to deliver under pressure."
“I had the opportunity to work closely with Damian at the Porsche European Open in Hamburg, where he was Director of Staging and I was Head of Operations. Together, we created what I believe was the best infrastructure the event has ever had.
From day one, Damian exceeded every expectation. He managed all suppliers and oversaw every detail — from the full set-up of the infrastructure to the dismantling process and the final truck leaving Green Eagle Golf Courses. Zero chaos or stress, just structure, clarity, and execution at the highest standard. What stood out most was his leadership: calm, reliable, and always bringing a positive energy that lifted the entire team.
He had my back throughout the entire project, and that made all the difference. Damian brings exactly what world-class golf events need: deep experience, total control, and the ability to deliver under pressure.” – Eve Giger, former Head of Operations, Porsche European Open, founder, Forward Golf Club
